Ransom Everglades School

Our flagship site, Breakthrough Miami at Ransom Everglades School has been an integral part of the Ransom community for more than 20 years. RE School houses Breakthrough Miami's largest program serving over 235 students. Founded by two RE alumni, the program is considered as the primary embodiment of the service mission of  RE School. As the model site, this location is also home to our cluster office and primary source of our volunteer student interns. Our students benefit greatly by Ransom tremendous resources and also give back by participating the in the school’s Island Care Project. Carrollton School of the Sacred Heart

Carrollton was founded in 1961 and is part of the world-wide network of Sacred Heart Schools inspired by the vision of St. Madeleine Sophie Barat who founded the first school of the Sacred Heart in 1801. Since that time, Sacred Heart education has been known for excellence. Madeleine Sophie sought to prepare young women to take their rightful places in the world in which they found themselves, armed with strength of character, intellectual curiosity, and a "lively faith." Our 2010 expansion site, Carrollton is currently home to two full-time staff and 90 students.  It is our second expansion into the Coconut Grove community and has been hugely supported and embraced. The Cushman School

The Cushman School is Miami-Dade County's oldest continuously operating private school. The first class, with just 12 students, took place on the front porch of Dr. Cushman's home. Today, the school consists of several buildings, a charming mix of old and new structures, spread across a small but expanding campus in a historic section of northeast Miami. The school is also recognized as one of the county's most accomplished educational institutions. Like its founder, The Cushman School is known for its idealism, innovation and vision. As our second 2010 expansion site, and under the umbrella of Miami Country Day School, The Cushman School is home to 75 Breakthrough students during the summer. “Working with college students who have Breakthrough Collaborative experience is a pleasure. They've experienced first hand the extraordinarily difficult, yet invigorating, challenge of service. The sharing of their own enthusiasm for education with younger students seems to help them become more thoughtful and informed students themselves once they are in college.”

- Judith H. Kidd, Associate Dean, Harvard College
