  • How do we tailor our daily work to ensure our students enter and thrive in top college-preparatory high school programs and get accepted into competitive college?
  • Will our talented high school and college teaching interns take their teaching skills to the next level and use them throughout their lives in their chosen professions? Further will the interns remain committed to assisting under-resourced students as they grow older? Will they consider coming back and giving back to this program in a number of key ways – through service, through philanthropy, through leadership?
  • Are decisions made in the best interest of children and families? Will it accommodate our growth?

Breakthrough Miami is a fantastic place to work! A critical component of Breakthrough Miami’s expansion plan is hiring the right people to manage growth and ensure consistently excellent programming. What follows are the positions we have available, both full-time and summer, hiring objectives, and the hiring process we undertake for all employees.

Our Hiring Process

In order to make sure we are hiring individuals who are the best fit for the position and for the team, Breakthrough Miami undergoes a lengthy hiring process. Generally, the process for a full-time employee will take 2 months from posting to offer. The process for a summer employee is approximately one month from posting to offer. We appreciate your patience and your desire to get to know the Breakthrough Miami team before you make the important decision of joining us!

Below are the steps of our hiring process:

  • To apply for a position please follow the directions listed at the bottom of the job description. Please keep in mind that each position has different application instructions.
  • Once you submit a cover letter and resume to the appropriate individual, you will receive an acknowledgement e-mail.
  • If you are selected for an interview, you will be contacted by our team within two weeks after your cover letter and resume has been received. At this time, we are not able to follow up with all applicants and apologize for the frustration this may cause.
  • The hiring supervisor conducts first-round interviews via telephone, and will follow up with all candidates who are interviewed. During the first interview, each candidate is asked the similar questions. The call often takes 15 minutes.
  • Second-round interviews are in-person, and take place with the candidate’s supervisor and members of the Breakthrough Miami staff. In addition, candidates will often interview with the head of school of principal at one of our respective site location.
  • Third-round and often final interviews are conducted with the Executive Director and or Members of the Board of Directors, depending on the position.
  • Reference checks are conducted on final two-three candidates
  • Offer of employment is made
