Join the Breakthrough Miami Team. We are looking for responsible, service- oriented students to teach, tutor, motivate, and inspire our scholars to achieve beyond their wildest imagination. Below are brief descriptions of some of our volunteer opportunities.
Office Assistant - assist with routine office tasks i.e. filing, data entry, data processing, organization, supply management and distribution, and instructional support (support needed all year)
Tutor - tutor students in varying subjects – tutoring 1-on-1 and in small groups (support needed all year).
Social Skills Instructor - facilitate discussion in various topics to include peer pressure, anger management, drug use, self efficacy, etc. Great for Motivationalist, strong public speakers, business majors. (Support needed all year)
Instructional Teacher – Math, Reading, Writing, and Social Studies teachers provide facilitation during Breakthrough Saturdays in 45 minute class sessions. Curriculum is a combination of ED Hirsch’s Core Knowledge and Miami-Dade public schools prescribed curriculum. (Support needed for the school year; if interested for summer check out our summer teaching internship)
Elective Teacher- Teach our students about your passion. Design an elective course that we share your passion and knowledge with the students during 45 minutes sessions during our Breakthrough Saturdays. (Support needed for school year; if interested for summer check out our summer teaching internship)
Blogging/Social Media/Communications - work with students on small blogging projects, social media, and other communication projects. Great for PR/Communication students. (Support needed all year)
